NPLEX PART II – MINOR SURGERY EXAM MAKE-UP ADMINISTRATION

NABNE recognizes the disruption caused by the technical issue on July 27, 2026. NABNE will refund the Part II – Minor Surgery Elective Examination (MSEE) fee for examinees who were unable to complete their scheduled MSEE testing appointment on July 27, 2026, because of the technical issue.

The refund will be processed over the next two to three weeks. No action is required to receive the refund, and the refund does not affect your eligibility to take the MSEE during the make-up administration.

The dates for the MSEE make-up administration are August 10, 11 and 12, 2026. You should have received your pre-registration letter from Prometric on Monday, August 3. If you have not received the pre-registration letter, please contact Prometric at smt-operationsteam@prometric.com.

There will be no additional fees associated with the make-up administration.

Examination results will not be delayed; they will be released on the expected timeline.

Thank you for your patience as NABNE and Prometric work to complete the MSEE make-up administration.

Questions regarding reimbursement of other costs should be directed to Prometric at smt-operationsteam@prometric.com.

NPLEX STATEMENT REGARDING EXAMINATION INTEGRITY AND SCORING

In accordance with testing industry best practices, the passing/cut score for NPLEX examinations is established using a criterion-referenced standard setting methodology. Criterion-referenced scoring means that each candidate is evaluated on their own knowledge and performance, as opposed to in comparison to any other candidate. The approach determines the passing/cut score based on the level of knowledge, skills, and abilities required for safe and effective practice.

While it is preferable to administer each examination (or examination part) on a single day during the testing window, it is possible to maintain a fair and valid assessment process while accommodating a second administration window. Examination administration and security procedures will be identical across both administrations. As in every NPLEX administration, statistical analyses will be conducted to identify any anomalies in the examination data, including potential evidence of prior exposure to examination content (pre-knowledge). These measures are designed to ensure a fair, valid, and equitable assessment process for all candidates, regardless of administration date.

PROMETRIC STATEMENT REGARDING JULY 27TH TECHNICAL ISSUE

Prometric has identified and resolved the technical issue that caused the disruption on July 27. Since the issue was resolved, examinations have been launching successfully. Prometric’s statement about the technical issue is below.

Prometric provided the following statement regarding the technical issue:

We want to apologize for the Prometric technical issues that occurred on July 27 and the disruption they caused for your candidates.  We understand how frustrating it can be when an exam fails to launch as expected, particularly when candidates have taken the time to prepare for such an important exam. We regret the inconvenience and uncertainty this situation created for the candidates.

Our production and technology teams engaged early yesterday morning once we became aware of the issue and identified the root cause – a technical update to the exam launch scripts that was modified AFTER many candidates had already scheduled their appointments.  This technical update required specific data to be present into certain data fields, and unfortunately it was not there at the start of the day.  Once the root cause was identified, we were successfully able to modify the records for candidates testing in the afternoon yesterday, with many appointments saved as a result.

We are committed to providing a reliable testing experience and recognize that we fell short of that expectation in this instance.  For those candidates who were not able to test as planned, we are working to identify a new testing date(s) for the make-up date.  As soon as we have completed an analysis needed to identify potential date(s), we will work with NABNE to finalize the plans and open up scheduling again for your candidates.

Thank you for your patience and partnership as we work through this matter. We appreciate the opportunity to support NABNE and remain focused on minimizing any further impact to candidates.
